Dean McEvoy is one of Australia's most successful founders, investors and startup advisors. Beyond selling his company Spreets to Yahoo for $40M just 10 months after launch, he has also made over 114 tech investments (including 2 unicorns: Zoox & Canva) via direct investment, Startmate and as a limited partner at Blackbird Ventures.
As co-founder and CEO of Spreets, Dean not only built the business from the ground up, but developed a winning culture of innovation with a fast-growing, high-performing team. His natural ability to scale sales and growth has given him the edge needed to identify winning startups and coach them to success.
His track record of choosing successful startups for Startmate’s accelerator program earned him the coveted “Most Valuable Mentor” title in 2019 and recognised as the best at picking successful companies over the life of the fund. Constantly striving for innovation, he lobbied the NSW government alongside Australia’s prominent tech leaders to create the Sydney Startup Hub as well as one of the biggest tech precincts in the world.
Dean’s passion and purpose in life is to work with inspiring and interesting people at the intersection of where technology can have the biggest impact in the world. The companies who embrace innovation in the next 10 years will reap the majority of the rewards, and his knowledge and expertise will help guide them on the best strategies to maximise this opportunity.
