Unlearn Our Design Behaviours

From Tokyo to Stockholm, Paya has designed numerous e-commerce products that cater to global users. With every experience, she continues to learn about different methodologies, processes and workflows but one thing that has helped her throughout her career is her unique ability to understand user behaviour patterns that are unique to different markets.
In this talk, Paya will talk about her journey and how to focus on local users in order to deliver global product design. She will talk through:

  • The differences in each market she has encountered;
  • The various design methodologies that have worked for her and how she has adapted each to suit her products (i.e. how persona's no longer work, etc);
  • How to ensure consistency and efficiency in your product design while designing locally for global products; and finally
  • How you can implement this within in your own teams to better create global products
Product Strategies For Growth

For Sreemati, a great product strategy is always a work-in-progress. They should be able to adapt to the user's needs, team's growth but should always remain loyal to the user problems and company's vision.
In this talk, Sreemati will talk through Bluecalls' 6-month journey on creating a scalable product strategy that allowed for adoption and growth. She will touch on:

  • The importance of consistent company vision and measurable goals,
  • Why they used a Hypothesis-driven development methodology for the Bluecall app,
  • What challenges and lessons they face, and
  • What other future improvements can she foresee
Why UX Research Doesn't Need To Break The Bank

As part of the IKEA team exploring the creation of AR gaming experience for children in-store, Shilpi started her journey through uncharted territory when she was presented with new challenges around every corner. Shilpi encountered many learnings and insights along the way, but one thing that stuck with her is that the most complex of products often requires the most basic type of research to achieve data.

In this talk Shilpi will use her experience with Ikea and Pandora to talk through:

  • Experiences of being a UX researcher for complex products and advice for fellow UX researchers looking to justify the importance of UX research
  • How she was able to get data and user insights with almost little to no budget
  • The types of research methods she has used and why she used them, and
  • Insights for a product team conducting UX research

The Balance Between Direction and Team Autonomy

One of the biggest challenges product leaders in any modern organisation face is creating "empowered" teams. It means asking the right questions without pre-supposing the answer, painting a picture without leaving teams with nothing more to do than paint-by-numbers. It means finding the right balance between top-down guidance and bottom-up creativity.
This session will bring different perspectives from design, product and engineering to discuss their thoughts on striking this fine balance

Community is one part of how UXDX helps teams build better products.

Local events help people learn from peers and build their network. The reports, ebooks and knowledge library turn those conversations into practical ideas teams can apply.
