How could you use Design Thinking to find a compromise between users and business needs? How do you balance craftsmanship, communication and commercial awareness, managing external stakeholders?
In this talk, Roberta, Senior UX Designer and Team Leader at Booking.com, will walk you through her strategy to implement a challenging new product that defined her growth as leader in one of the world’s leading digital travel companies.
Claire has had a non-traditional path to her role as a product owner. Throughout this career path, she has learned that being a ‘Jack of all trades’ (or Jill!) has helped push her career forward and that being a generalist has allowed her not just to be a better PO but overall a better product leader.
In this talk, Claire will talk through:
- What UX principles she recommends for product professionals to have a strong base on,
- How has this helped her in her day-to-day role
- What product principles she would have wanted to have known about earlier in her career, and
- How being a T-shaped product owner has helped her democratise and create value in UX principles
What makes a great team? According to Matti and his vast experience, it's ensuring that teams are created with the aim of supporting and being supported by its organisation. Throughout his career, he has put together many well-functioning teams that can ship consistently and continuously, but is there a formula to his success?
In this session, Matti will talk through his best practices including how he shaped different teams in his organisation to ensure not only successful products but also happy teams. He will touch on:
- What types of teams function best, teams of generalists or specialists?
- What does he think of cross-functional teams? When does it function best and when does it not?
- What challenges has he encountered that you can avoid?
- Any future plans for improvement?
Sharing her own experience from being on-boarded remotely to now growing a remote global design team, Shruti will talk through her best practices in empowering new team members.
She will touch on how she's intertwined cultural and process changes within her team to ensure great remote experiences as her team continues to ship successful products.
As a Product Manager I have a love and hate relationship with Product Roadmap. I have struggled to answer these questions in the past: How to create a roadmap that communicates the product direction? How to answer my management team when they want "something big" in the roadmap? How to align with the rest of the team why we have such features in the roadmap?
In this session I want to share my experience on changing the way of creating a roadmap from feature oriented to outcomes oriented. I believe outcomes oriented roadmap would improve your communication with your stakeholders and gain their support. Moreover, articulate better why we are building this to your team.
