How to Design for AI Driven User Experiences

I believe that poor user experience design could lead to the downfall of human civilization as we know it today. As AI becomes easier to implement into new product designs, the UX community needs simple methodologies to avoid trapping users in poor AI driven experiences.

After discovering the value of UI Tenets & Traps for UI evaluation and design, and understanding the nuances involved in deploying AI into user interfaces, I created my own version of UI Tenets and Traps tailored to AI driven UI design.

Combining UI Tenets & Traps with the Microsoft Guidelines for Human AI Interactions provided a simple framework for designing and evaluating AI UI experiences. I will be sharing my AI UI Tenets and Traps in the hopes that future user interfaces that incorporate AI won’t trap users in poor experiences – avoiding the downfall of human civilization as we know it today.
