Silvanus Lee is the Director and site lead for Twitter's APAC Engineering Centre. He is responsible for scaling Twitter's Engineering efforts in the region, which includes Data Science, Product Engineering and Platform teams.
Silvanus is also the co-founder of BasisAI, an Enterprise AI company headquartered in Singapore, backed by Temasek and Sequoia Capital.
Prior to Twitter, Silvanus held tech leadership roles at a number of high-growth companies in San Francisco. He was Director & Head of Product Data Science at Uber, where he led teams of 100+ data scientists and engineers, and was also formerly the Head of Data Science at Dropbox. Silvanus graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Computer Science.

There are many reasons why decentralised teams outperform their top-down counterparts. While there are many advantages decentralisation can provide, this panel will discuss different approaches within teams and when it doesn't work, along with ways to start experiencing the benefits of a decentralised team without the need to be disjoined.
