David is a Full Stack UX Designer at the Weir Group and currently working on an array of exciting projects across different product lifecycles.

David has worked across different sectors, such as energy, finance and engineering, where research, guidance and design has produced real world improvements for users. Outside of this David has a passion for guiding businesses on how to scale in the digital world, while also educating on accessibility guidelines and legislation.

Algorithmic Monoculture – The downfall of UI Personalisation

While we, as individuals, recognise our limitations and biases, what about our AI systems? With the expansion of AI technologies and algorithms into fields like UI personalisation, are we prepared to advance further? Or are we risking a widespread failure? In this talk, we'll be looking at issues with algorithmic user profiling and how this can lead to marginalisation and poor user experiences and what to do about it.
