Thrivent

Meghan is a Staff Product Designer at Thrivent, where she leads the Digital Advisory Experience portfolio. Over the past nine years, she has driven design outcomes at leading companies, including developer onboarding at ApolloGraphQL, custom permissions for enterprise clients at Lever, and internal data portals at Twilio.

Diagnosed with ADHD in 2021, Meghan initially feared her diagnosis might end her design career due to widespread stigma and misunderstanding. Instead, she embraced her neurodivergence, using it as a strength to better understand herself and her work. Now, she empowers others with similar challenges, believing that embracing our perceived weaknesses allows us to redefine our narratives and become stronger designers.

Outside of work, Meghan mentors designers on Designed.org and supports LGBTQ+ youth through OutInTech’s Edu program, guiding those aged 17-24 into tech careers. She also shares her insights with the design community through UX Collective, reaching an audience of over 491,000.

Understanding ourselves unlocks the ability to identify our strengths (and shortcomings), which enables us to strategize our approach within workflows. Over time, those “superpowers” continue to reshape and refine themselves with practice, allowing you to take back the power that we lose when we see our neurodivergences as negatives, career-enders, or deterrents.
