Matthew Wate joined HumanInsights in 2018 as a UX Strategist. Since then, he's assumed more leadership roles, and today he's the Head of Service Design & Innovation. He's responsible for developing design thinking strategies and frameworks for our clients to deliver tangible value across their digital platforms.

He holds a BA (Hons) degree from Wits University and has extensive experience in financial services (including banking) and the public sectors. Matthew is incredibly passionate about helping our clients create solutions that optimise client experiences and unlock value for the businesses we support.

As designers, it's easy to explain what we do, we deliver screens, flows and make the world easier to use. That's great, but as design has become increasingly respected, more and more designers are finding themselves in roles that are harder to describe and even more difficult to navigate. In this talk I will help designers to define their role in a strategic context and outline some of the tools they can use to enable their design skills and creativity to add value in a more senior setting.
