Technical Lead

Dewald is a developer and tech lead in Oslo, building modern products with TypeScript, Node, React and Azure, and currently engineering core systems at Convene Hospitality. A former full time teacher and guest lecturer, he brings a calm, structured approach to shipping software and helping teams level up. Outside of work he is usually making music on guitar or building 2D games in Godot, dabbling in pixel art and animation.

We'll look at how movable type and mechanical inventions transformed communication and print, then look into how fonts work in the digital world: bitmap grids, vector outlines, anti-aliasing, and modern formats like TrueType, OpenType, and WOFF2 - revealing how centuries of technical constraints still shape the text in our digital products.
